7th October 2009

‘The Friends’ play an important role in supporting all our Regional Music groups in both practical and financial terms. By having a child in one of the Regional Groups, you are automatically a member.
We are currently trying to increase income to ensure that we can ‘match-fund’ a proportion of a large funding application due to be submitted.

There are a number of ways in which you can support this sessions activities:

1) November’s performance activities in Eden Court will include a raffle run by the Friends, and donations of non-perishable ‘quality’ food/drink items (with use by date beyond November please) would be much appreciated. A similar initiative run last session raised a considerable amount of money and was well supported by members families (there are, in fact a number of donations which we were able to keep back to ‘kick-start’ this years effort).

2) Helpers will be required to assist with the selling of raffle tickets at the Saturday evening Gala in Eden Court. Please contact Lizzie McDougall 01349 863726 (Friends chair) or Angeline Walker 01349 868271 (Highland Council) if you are willing to help.

3) The Committee meets about 4 times a year and it would be good to have a greater representation of parents/carers from all the Groups. We realise that as the meetings are held in Dingwall, this limits the geographical spread of potential members, but there are enough members from within reasonable travelling distance who could be represented at these meetings.
The Committee is a vital part of the support network for all the Regional Groups and relies completely on the willingness of parents/carers to ensure the future success and growth of opportunities for our young folk. PLEASE get in touch with Colin Mackenzie (details below) if you would like to come along to our next meeting (26th Jan 2010).
(Committee members are entitled to free tickets for most of the Groups Concerts…there’s an offer you can’t refuse!)

4) Adopt-a-Chair is the basic way to support Groups and details are enclosed, along with information about other ways in which businesses and/or individuals can support our activities.
Your help in ensuring that we get a comprehensive spread of support for this initiative would be much appreciated.

5) Any parents/carers who work for a business who have an advertising budget, or if you run you own business are welcome to contact Norman Bolton, Highland Council’s Music Development Officer, to discuss programme advertising opportunities and/or further sponsorship possibilities.
